How to make a digital visiting card
There are two ways, and both work on your phone: a free QR code that saves your contact, made in about two minutes, or a live card you can edit, share on WhatsApp and use to take enquiries. Here is what to keep ready, the steps for each, how to share your card and the mistakes to avoid.
To make a digital visiting card on CardLinkr, sign up with email or Google, claim your link (cardlinkr.com/your-name), choose a template, add your contact details, services and photos, and switch on the enquiry form and appointments. Then download your QR code from the dashboard and share the link on WhatsApp. The basics take a few minutes.
What should you keep ready before you start?
Collect these on your phone first. With everything in one place, the card takes minutes instead of an evening.
- A photo or logo — a clear, well-lit face photo if people hire you, a logo if they buy from your shop or firm. Crop it close so it reads well at a small size.
- Phone number — the number you want calls on, with the country code (+91).
- WhatsApp number — note it separately if it is different from your calling number.
- Email — a work email looks more professional than a personal one, if you have it.
- Address and map location — the full address with a landmark and PIN code, so the directions button takes people to the right gate, not just the right street.
- Services or products with prices — your five to ten main ones, each with a one-line description. If prices change often, write a starting price or "price on request".
- Three to six photos of your work — your shop front, finished jobs, your clinic or office, your products. Real photos beat stock images.
- Social links — Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, your website.
- Working hours — you need these if you want people to book appointments.
Decide on your link name too. Keep it short and easy to say: your name, your business name or both, such as cardlinkr.com/neha-makeup or cardlinkr.com/gupta-traders.
Way 1: Make a free QR visiting card in two minutes
If you want to make a digital visiting card online free, without signing up, use the free digital visiting card maker. It makes a static vCard QR code and a contact file (.vcf). Nothing you type is uploaded; it all happens in your browser.
- Open the maker on your phone or computer.
- Type your name, profession, business, mobile number, email, website or Instagram, and office address. Hindi is fine; Hindi names scan correctly.
- Check the preview for spelling, especially your name and number.
- Download the QR code and the contact file.
- Scan the QR code with another phone and check the name and number it saves.
What it can and cannot do. The QR code holds your details inside it, so it works even when the person scanning has no internet. But it is fixed: if your number or address changes, you need a new code and a new print run. It also cannot show services, photos or an enquiry form. If those matter to you, use Way 2.
Way 2: Make a live digital visiting card on CardLinkr
A live card is a page you can keep changing, with the same link and QR code. Here are the steps:
- Sign up with email or Google. Create your account in the browser on your phone or computer. There is no app to install.
- Claim your link. Choose the name that comes after cardlinkr.com/. Pick it with care — it is what you will print and share.
- Choose a template. Start from one made for your work, such as Doctor, Lawyer, Salon & Spa, Retailer, Real Estate or Corporate. Every plan includes all 40+ templates, and you can switch later without changing your link.
- Add your details and sections. Fill in your name, photo, designation, numbers, WhatsApp, email and address. Then add the sections that suit you: services or products with prices and photos, a gallery, social links and custom links to a brochure or price list. There is a testimonials section too; leave it off if your profession's advertising rules restrict it, as doctors and advocates should.
- Switch on the enquiry form and appointments. Set your working hours and slots, so people can only book when you are free. Every enquiry is saved in your dashboard.
- Download your QR code from the dashboard. On every plan except Starter you can also customise the QR code design to match your brand.
- Share it. Send the link on WhatsApp and put the QR code wherever people meet you — more on that below.
Before you share, open your link on your own phone and tap every button: save contact, call, WhatsApp, directions. Then ask a friend to send a test enquiry and check that it reaches your dashboard.
Prefer not to do it yourself? Done-for-you setup can be added to the Pro plan at checkout, and our team contacts you within 1 working day.
Free QR or live card: which should you make?
- Make the free QR code if you only need something to print on a paper card, your details rarely change and you do not need enquiries.
- Make a live card if you change prices, projects or offers, want to show photos and services, or want people to book time and send enquiries. On every plan except Starter you also see a count of how many times your card was viewed.
You can start with the free QR code today and move to a live card later; just print the new QR code on your next batch of cards.
Every new CardLinkr account starts with a 30-day free trial with Pro features, and you do not need payment details to start. After that, plans start at ₹999 a year or ₹249 a month, or ₹4,999 once for Lifetime. Compare what each plan includes on the pricing page.
How should you share your digital visiting card?
- WhatsApp chats — send your link after every call, meeting or enquiry. Write a line with your name before the link, such as "Neha Sharma, Bridal Makeup — my card:", because the link preview does not always show who it is from. If you use WhatsApp Business, save that message as a quick reply.
- WhatsApp Status — post your link or QR code now and then, especially when you add a new service, product or offer.
- QR code on paper — print it on the back of your paper visiting card, a counter standee, your letterhead, shop door or site board. Keep it at least 2 cm wide with a white margin around it, avoid glossy lamination that reflects light, and test-scan the printed proof with two or three phones before you print the whole batch.
- Email signature — add the link under your name, so every email carries your full details.
- Instagram bio — put the link in your bio or website field; do the same on Facebook and LinkedIn.
Because the link never changes, you can share it everywhere once and keep the details current from your dashboard.
Six common mistakes, and how to avoid them
- Printing a static QR code when your details change often. A static code cannot be edited. If your number, offer or address is likely to change, use a live card so the printed QR code keeps working.
- Choosing a link nobody can say. Avoid long strings and extra numbers. "cardlinkr.com/rk-associates-lko-2" is hard to tell someone over the phone; "cardlinkr.com/rk-associates" is not.
- Writing a wall of text. People skim on a phone. Use short service names, a price or starting price, and real photos instead of long paragraphs.
- Not testing the buttons. A missing country code, a WhatsApp number that is not on WhatsApp or a map pin on the wrong street loses you the client at the last step. Tap every button yourself.
- Printing the QR code too small or without a test. Below 2 cm, on a busy background or on shiny paper, some phones struggle to scan it. Test the printed proof, not just the file on your screen.
- Adding claims your profession does not allow. Doctors, advocates and chartered accountants have rules that restrict advertising, and insurance agents must never promise returns. Keep the card factual, skip testimonials and words like "best", and check the current rules for your profession — this guide is not legal advice.
One more habit worth building: open your card once a month and remove anything out of date — an old price, a closed branch, last season's offer. See the guides for doctors, advocates and shops for what to put on a card in each field.

Frequently asked questions
Can I make a digital visiting card on my phone?
Yes. Both ways work in your phone's browser: the free card maker and a CardLinkr account. You can add photos from your phone and edit the card later from your phone or a computer.
How long does it take to make a digital visiting card?
The free QR code takes about two minutes. A live card with your contact details and a template takes a few minutes for the basics. Adding services, prices and photos takes longer, and you can add those bit by bit.
Can I change the design later?

Can I make a digital visiting card online for free?
Yes. The free card maker makes a QR code and contact file with no sign-up, but the details cannot be changed after printing. For a live card you can edit, CardLinkr starts with a free trial and no payment details; after that it is a paid plan.
Do I need a designer or technical skills?
No. You fill in your details and pick a template. If you would rather not do it yourself, done-for-you setup can be added to the Pro plan at checkout, and our team contacts you within 1 working day.
What size should the QR code be on a paper visiting card?
At least 2 cm wide, with a white margin around it, on a plain background. Test-scan a printed proof with two or three phones before you print the whole batch.
